A Quick Fix (Part Three)

Ten minutes later the old man was asleep in his chair. I sat quietly in my chair, texting my mother and brother to keep them updated, watching the nurse out in the hallway sitting down, typing at her computer, then standing up, grabbing a clipboard or a staff member and going to see a patient. Then my father bolted upright. He looked all around him very quickly, his face blank and paling before finally relaxing as he stared resignedly at a spot on the wall opposite him.
