love - 6

We talked over the phone for a while.
Every now and again we needed something familiar
and I guess we supposed that we'd do.

Eventually, you realized that we were making a mistake
and you stopped answering my calls.
I kept calling.

I grew accustomed to the familiar beep of your answering machine.
I didn't know if you even listened to my messages
and I didn't care.
